California Pacific Medical Center - Cathedral Hill Hospital

Reducing Traffic at a Major Hospital

Greg served as transportation planner for the California Pacific Medical Center Cathedral Hill campus, a major new hospital and medical office building sited at the intersection of two key traffic and transit corridors.  The transportation impacts of the project were extremely controversial, with opponents hiring outside consultants attempting to discredit Greg's work.  But with a command of the technical analysis, and the ability to explain it to decision makers, Greg successfully navigated the project through the appeal.  Greg also worked with the sponsor to ensure that the project's heavily-trafficked driveways were designed and located to avoid interference with transit operations, obstruct sidewalk access, or degrade bike safety.  The project also implemented a comprehensive package of Vehicle Miles Traveled reduction measures, including a parking surcharge fee used to fund an extensive shuttle service for patients and employees.
